I am deeply passionate about working with children, finding immense value in their genuine expressions and emotional connections. Witnessing their honesty and vulnerability when they engage with their feelings is truly remarkable. In my practice, I use kinesiology as a powerful tool to help children untangle their nervous systems, allowing them to find inner peace and clarity. My ultimate goal is to create a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive and flourish.
Kinesiology sessions offer a supportive space for children dealing with a spectrum of challenges, including but not limited to:
Every child can benefit significantly from individual kinesiology sessions. Addressing underlying factors such as an overactive nervous system, biochemical imbalances, and emotional stress restores balance, alleviates concerns, and empowers children to access their inherent healing capabilities.
Kinesiology is a safe and effective tool suitable for children of all ages. Remarkably, it can even facilitate communication with an unborn baby during pregnancy.
How long do Kinesiology sessions for kids normally last?
The ideal session duration will be determined based on your child’s specific requirements and stressors, which we can discuss during the booking process.
FAQ
Bedwetting and night terrors often stem from an imbalance within the kidney meridian. The inability to control the bladder during sleep or experiencing fear, anxiety, and panic during dreams are related to the kidney and bladder meridians being either overactive or underactive. To balance the Kidney and Bladder meridians, it is essential to address the adrenal gland and the state of the nervous system. This process involves a variety of techniques, including:
The choice of techniques depends on the nervous system’s state and the imbalance’s duration. These methods are complemented by emotional releases, discussions about emotions, and the use of colour and sound, especially if the child is young. Once the nervous system is relaxed and balanced, the next step is to balance the kidney and bladder meridians. This can be achieved through:
A follow-up balance is typically recommended after the nervous system and meridians are balanced, and the root cause is addressed. This follow-up ensures no further underlying issues and assesses whether the digestive system or primitive reflexes need additional attention. By using these holistic approaches, kinesiology aims to address the root causes of bedwetting and night terrors, promoting overall well-being and balance in your child’s body and mind.
Separation anxiety often stems from an imbalance within the kidney and bladder meridians. This imbalance can lead to difficulties in managing emotions such as fear, anxiety, panic, and terror. In the context of separation anxiety, there is also a connection to feelings of nourishment, sweetness in life, and a sense of control over these emotions. Anxiety often manifests in muscle memory or posture, becoming more pronounced each time a similar situation arises. Addressing the root cause of these feelings can change the entire chain of events. To balance the Kidney and Bladder meridians, it is essential to address the adrenal gland and the state of the nervous system. This process involves a variety of techniques, including:
Individual muscle balances are often required to prevent the body from feeling overwhelmed and heavy in postural muscles. Anxiety can frequently be expressed within the body as what is referred to as an electrical imbalance, which will address electrolytes/minerals balance, balance of sensory organs, body polarity, and grounding energy.
A treatment plan will generally consist of four or more balances depending on the child and the different environments triggering these feelings. Occasionally, I will set up some roleplay with parents regarding situations. It is also helpful to discuss the various situations in which the child feels anxious in the clinic. By using these holistic approaches, kinesiology aims to address the root causes of bedwetting and night terrors, promoting overall well-being and balance in your child’s body and mind.
School refusal can occur at any stage of your child’s education, whether starting kindergarten, transitioning to high school, or facing changes in peers, subjects, schools, or school values. It typically doesn’t happen immediately but results from accumulated internalized emotions. These emotions are often held within the postures we adopt in the school environment and can sometimes be linked to retained primitive reflexes. These postures become burdened with emotions the longer they are held under stressful or perceived situations. In later years, school refusal can often relate to underlying learning issues or imbalances within the nervous system resulting from being in the school environment. Kinesiology can help pinpoint the root cause of these issues and balance the body and nervous system for better performance in a rigid school environment.
One of the first questions I ask in cases of school refusal is whether the school, parents, and child are aligned in their expectations and values. Over the years, I have found that the imbalances often stem from the parents. These can manifest as disappointment with the school system, teachers, or education in general. It doesn’t matter whether you have chosen mainstream public education, Steiner education, or homeschooling; what matters is that the school’s values, the values at home, and the child’s values are all aligned.
Posture release is relatively simple with kinesiology. I explain them as being like a backpack of emotions. Situations can become overwhelming, causing the nervous system to shut down, flee, or stand and fight when the emotional backpack becomes too heavy. Kinesiology helps to unload that backpack, allowing the child to feel and process emotions in the moment without the burden of previously stored emotions. Once emotional muscle memory is released, we generally work on retained reflexes, cranial sacral alignment, activation of the vagal nerve, and body polarity. Restoring the nervous system enables us to focus on BrainGym and create new neural pathways for success in any learning environment.
From a parent’s perspective, the kinesiology process allows you to delve deep into understanding what’s happening with your child. It empowers you to understand how they learn and better support their needs within the education system. It also gives you the confidence to identify and manage biochemical or food-related triggers within the learning environment.
Generally, a child should require no more than three kinesiology sessions to release the emotional stress within their postures. The first session is about building physical, emotional, and energetic rapport. It is vital to follow this up soon after with a second session, where the child will often release the core issues. The third session is generally a follow-up, assessing and guiding the parent for additional treatments needed to strengthen processes, balance biochemical issues, or address retained reflexes. Bullying-related issues that often contribute to school refusal tend to subside with the release of emotions in the postures.
